High School Senior Photos

Many High Schools do not offer a choice to choose your own photographer...some require that you use the photographer they have a contract with, and you are then limited to those photos.  I find that many people often do not like those photos and would like to take another set to actually frame and use for their personal use.  

My biggest question is always what does the HS senior like to do??  Are they into sports (you can use a football/basketball for props)..are they comfortable at the beach... are they are into dance... this will help me to gather ideas on how to capture the personality... 

Again.. a fancy background is not always necessary... in the examples below, you'll notice the use of a front door and cement wall... and don't be afraid to get right close up as the other example shows...  a change of outfits is always a good idea as well.. most of my HS Seniors bring a few outfits to swap... so I hope these tips work if you are thinking of taking some of your own photos of your upcoming HS Senior....

Where do I start for photographing???

Always a good question..where do you start??   Start with what you have!!   Remember.. the background is just that - a background.   It shouldn't be busy or distracting.   An area in the yard with greenery ... a blank wall... use what you have around you and be creative.   Do you have a park nearby??  Parks are great places to photograph... usually lots of open spaces and greenery..

So just look around you for inspiration.   Using what you have available helps to make your photos different and more personalized.

First step... find your camera.  Make sure you have fresh batteries in it or the battery is recharged if it's a rechargable battery.  Make sure you have film/or a memory card in your camera as well.   Its always a good idea to make sure that your camera is always ready to go.
